We recommend starting banjo lessons for students eight years and older. The banjo is a four or five stringed instrument (also more rarely a six string instrument) with a circular frame and is frequently associated with country, folk, Irish traditional and bluegrass music. The banjo, along with the fiddle, is a mainstay of American old-time music. We recommend beginners start on a four string banjo.
